Cheap PSUs are often rated 80 Plus Bronze or white. Cheaper power supplies are also often non-modular, meaning all the cables are permanently connected, rather than being removable. Proper headroom above the system’s peak power draw also protects against the load spikes that occur during multi-threaded rendering or simulation tasks, rather than running the unit near its ceiling continuously.

A high-performance workstation represents a serious investment in production capability. A failure in a low-quality PSU can damage other parts in the system, such as the motherboard, storage, or GPU. Component quality here is inseparable from protecting everything else in the build.
