Best Faro Scene Computer

Faro Scene is used for laser scanning, which can be quite heavy on your computer’s resources. If you’re looking to build a great Faro Scene computer, we’d recommend you consider some pretty powerful parts.

Why choose us?

Parts like CPU cooler, Power Supply Unit, and chassis are often glossed over when putting together a system like this. Surprisingly, these parts have a massive effect on the lifespan and performance optimisation of the CPU, GPU and RAM. We only use parts that guarantee excellent cooling, airflow, and power delivery.

We’ve also got a lot of experience in putting these systems together, and our cable management is flawless. This not only means dust will be a lot less of an issue, but it will be much easier to work with when you eventually need an upgrade. This will only happen several years down the line, of course. Not to mention our cases just look fantastic.

Each Modena Computers Workstation is tailored to the personal needs of the user, but the features below would make for a great starting point for a Faro Scene computer.

Need help choosing your ideal spec?

Please include as much information as possible regarding your requirements, including budget, programs used and any other information you think that might help us craft the perfect computer for you!

CPU – Core Count

Faro Scene benefits greatly from a higher number of cores, but there comes a point when you experience diminishing returns. We’ve found that the sweet spot is around 16 cores.

CPU – Frequency

Faro Scene also has a lot of processes that rely more on CPU frequency than multiple cores. There are some great choices of CPU available from AMD, specifically within their Ryzen 5000 series. Our prime pick would be the Ryzen 9 5950X, which features 16 cores, and can boost up to 4.9GHz.

Faro Scene’s system requirements page recommends an Nvidia Quadro graphics card for VR work, but we’ve found that this is not necessary. You would get much better performance results for your money with a high-power GeForce card, such as an RTX3070 or RTX3080.

Virtual Reality is looking to become an extremely important tool in the coming years.

Faro Scene projects can get quite large, and for this reason, we’d suggest no less than 32GB RAM in a Faro Scene computer. If you plan on working with VR, you should consider at least 64, or possibly up to 128GB.

Faro Scene projects can also take up a lot of space on your disk, so we’d recommend pretty large drives.

You could get away with a 1TB SSD for all your active files and a large HDD for long term storage, but you would probably benefit from a 1920GB SSD from the start, adding in more storage later on when you need it.

For maximum speed, you should use an M.2 PCIe NVMe drive. These are much faster than standard 2.5” SATA SSDs.
