Best Computer For Rhino 3D

Rhinoceros is a 3D CAD modelling software that is used to create models ready for rendering, animation, and a variety of other tasks. The requirements for this program are quite minimal, but it is also important to take into consideration other programs that you will be using this system for. For the best computer for Rhino, however, you’ll want more than just the minimum requirements.

In this article, we’ll be talking about the components you need to build the best workstation PC for Rhino 3D.

CPU – Frequency

This should be your main priority in a computer for Rhino. More expensive CPUs usually come with more cores, but not always with an increase in speed. Your budget should be focused on an overclockable CPU, a motherboard that supports overclocking, and sufficient cooling to ensure that it is able to maintain the highest frequencies as possible.

We would personally recommend either a Ryzen 5000 CPU, or an Intel 10th generation CPU overclocked above 5GHz.

CPU – Core Count

Rhino is not a program that relies on a high core count, as it is mainly used for modelling, which is a single-threaded application. As always, it is important to keep in mind which other programs you plan to work with. If you won’t only be using your computer for Rhino, it’s possible that you’ll need more CPU cores.

Watercooled CPU


Rhino requires at least 4GB video memory, so the Nvidia GTX1650 would be an excellent starting point. You may want to consider something more powerful depending on the other programs you plan on using your computer for.


Being as lightweight as it is, Rhino can run quite smoothly on just 8GB RAM, but this is far less than we would recommend at this point in time.

To allow for enough headroom to comfortably use other programs, and to run multiple programs at the same time, we would recommend at least 16GB RAM.

This would make sure that you don’t experience any stuttering or freezing on regularly daily tasks such as web browsing and office admin as well.

Lots of RAM


Rhino files do not take up much space, and this means it is easy to opt for the fastest storage available. We only use super-fast NVMe SSDs, which are much faster than more common SATA drives, and even regular M.2 storage.

Keep in mind that opting for higher performance right out of the gate offers much greater value than getting exactly what you need right now. A higher performance PC won’t need downtime to upgrade any time soon, and will also allow you to complete more work in less time. It could pay itself off a lot sooner than a more affordable option.
